How do you live in a very small space?

Sleeping, cooking, lounging, showering, storage – all functions accommodated in 27 square meters, and concealed behind flush panels. Nothing is lacking, and at the same time the small area exudes a feeling of spaciousness.

Good interaction:
Design, handicraft and functional hardware

It all starts with a successful design. An experienced joiner and selecting the right hardware is decisive for implementation.

Functions are opened and closed again – in accordance with requirements

The bed, the kitchenette, the bathroom and the building equipment are accommodated in a made-to-measure installation solution from the Berlin-based Bartmann joinery. All of the functions disappear into a minimalist wall made from high-quality smoked oak.

The design requirement: Flush-fitting front

To begin with, the visitor doesn’t notice that other rooms open up behind the wall paneling made from veneered smoked oak and mirror glass. Because the wall made from doors which have been flush-fitted by the joiner skillfully conceal them using Hawa hardware.

The right hardware for any application

The sleeping alcove is concealed by a sliding wall whose panels are moved by Hawa Aperto. Next to that, the wooden wall conceals a well thought-out wardrobe, which can be extended into the room lengthwise using Hawa Forte.  The kitchen disappears behind the pivot/slide-in doors with Hawa Concepta when it is not needed.

About the project:

In 2016, Berlin furniture store minimum invited architects to take part in the “twenty seven square meters” micro living competition. The bfs-design office impressed the jury with a layout which scored points with its atmosphere, feeling of spaciousness and clever details.
The ideas were implemented by minimum with some minor adjustments. A micro-apartment has been created which invites you to sleep, cook, shower and spend time, and can also be used as a meeting room.

Micro living – big opportunity for small spaces

Where living spaces are shrinking, innovative room concepts aren needed: Microliving is synonymous with an urban lifestyle and smart mini-apartments. Sliding solutions enable great comfort within a small living area.
